The pen-and-paper midterm contributes 10% of your final grade.

The midterm is held during the Week 7 lecture slot timing (i.e., there will not be a lecture in Week 7).
Seating
There is assigned seating for the midterm; each of you has a seat number, and you must sit in that seat within the venue.

Scope
The midterm covers content up to and including Lecture 4 (Loops).
Format
We have uploaded two documents on Canvas Files. These are just for your information and you don’t have to print anything yourself.
- The front page of the question paper: please read those instructions carefully
- A redacted version of answer booklet: this will show a rough marks breakdown along with the format, e.g., how many MCQ / short-answer / true-false / open-ended questions there will be. The answer booklet will be more detailed on the day.
- Note that during the exam, you should only write your answers in the answer booklet. Anything written on the question paper will not be marked.
We also always have an ungraded question space at the end of the paper for you to let us know if you think there are any issues with the question paper. We read this before grading to see if we need to change anything. Filling this in is optional.
What You May Bring
You may bring:
- one A4 cheat sheet, printed or handwritten, using both sides of the paper; and
- a calculator
No other electronic devices are allowed. Internet access and AI tools are also not allowed.
Breaches of exam rules may constitute academic misconduct and lead to academic or disciplinary penalties.
