Act within 24 hours

If you miss a practical exam or the midterm, email Eldon and Sriram with your justification within 24 hours after the exam ends.

If You Miss the Midterm or a Practical Exam

If you miss a practical exam or the midterm test, email Eldon and Sriram within 24 hours after the assessment ends. Your email must explain why you were absent and include supporting documentation.

We can only consider medical, academic, or compassionate reasons. For example, officially representing NUS at a sports event is acceptable, but attending a concert is not. Supporting documentation may include a medical certificate or an email from another course instructor.

If you are absent without a valid justification, you will receive 0 marks for that assessment.

If your justification is valid, we will arrange only one alternative assessment. If you miss the alternative assessment, you may file for special consideration at the end of the semester. You can find the procedure in the NUS Student Portal under Special Consideration.

If You Miss the Final Exam

The School and the Registrar’s Office administer the final exam, so it follows a separate procedure. The CS1010 teaching team cannot handle a final-exam absence on its own.

If you miss the final exam, apply for special consideration. You can find the procedure in the NUS Student Portal under Special Consideration.
